The Academy Program is a developmental program for 6-12 year old players (U8-U12) and is the foundation of our Premier Program. We are a creative attack minded club that is committed to a long-term player development model with a major focus on technical development. In addition, we are committed to providing opportunities for players of all ability and commitment levels to play within our club. Our coaching staff are dedicated to working together to create a seamless developmental environment that is beneficial and enjoyable for everyone. Our program provides:

  • A professional coaching staff that oversees all aspects of training and games
  • A training environment heavily focused on technical and tactical development at the younger ages
  • A program that competes against South Florida youth soccer clubs
  • A program that participates in tournaments (limited number of and distance)

The Academy Program follows a training curriculum that is fun while allowing for optimum player development. The goal of this program is youth player development that follows guidelines and recommendations put forth by the United States Soccer Federation. All teams are trained by appropriately licensed, professional Club coaches to provide the players with the best possible foundation of skills and knowledge of the game.

The players will be selected through an evaluation process then placed on a team with players of similar ability. Throughout the season, games will be played against other local clubs’ Academy teams. Players within the teams may be rotated and exchanged from team to team throughout the season.

Team training occurs twice weekly with games on weekends. Additional training opportunities along with speed, strength and agility training will be available and encouraged. The Academy teams will participate in 2-4 tournaments per year.

Academy soccer emphasizes maximum development of individual skills and provides the opportunity to apply those skills in a competitive environment, including in-house, league play and tournament competition. Young players with commitment, skills and attitude will find Academy Soccer to be a good introduction to Select and Premier level play. Acceptance to the Coral Springs Prime FC Academy Soccer program is based on player evaluations, which take place during tryouts each spring.

Coral Springs Prime FC expects players who represent the club to maintain high standards of personal behavior both on and off the field. We place great importance on academics and expect players to organize their activities to accommodate both schoolwork and soccer at high levels of achievement. We look to parents to ensure that their Coral Springs Prime FC players reach games and practices on time, to attend whenever possible with a positive attitude, and to participate in the running of the Club in some capacity.

Academy soccer teams play over three seasonal periods, fall, winter, and spring, which make up one seasonal year. For U8 through U12 players, this comprises the winter regular season schedule of games.

Academy teams are chosen based on open tryouts held each year in May/June. Positions on Academy teams are competitively awarded, and skill based.  Coral Springs Prime FC holds open tryouts where interested players are evaluated by our coaching and training staff. The skills, attitude and potential each player exhibits at these tryouts are considered when team positions are offered. It is the nature of these programs and inherent in the selection process that not every player will be offered a team position. We urge players who are not selected to take advantage of Coral Springs Prime FC Soccer Camps and our Developmental Player Program to advance their skills and prepare for next year’s tryouts.

Because practices are where much of the learning and development take place, participants must attend both practices/week. We strongly encourage our academy aged players to also attend our technical training nights to enhance their individual technique.  Occasionally, conflicts arise in which the participant cannot attend a practice. Other activities (music lessons, other sports, homework, vacations, etc.) should be considered before committing to competitive programs to avoid significant interruption of the required practice and game schedule.

By accepting a place on an Academy select team roster, a player commits to play the full seasonal year, August through May. For U8 to U12 players, this comprises the fall, winter and the spring seasonal schedule.

Evaluations for U8 - U12 teams are held in May and June each year for the coming soccer seasonal year.  Information on registering for evaluations and tryouts can be found under the Tryouts link above.  Recreational players can join Coral Springs Prime FC at any time throughout the Fall and Spring once any commitment to the CSYS Recreational Program has been fulfilled.  As long as you are not registered with another FYSA affiliated club you are free to tryout for Coral Springs Prime FC.   Select players must obtain permission from their current club before any discussions about playing opportunities are held.
